STAGE ONE RENEWABLE ENERGY PARK OPENING

Port Augusta City Council Chief Executive Officer John Banks and Mayor Brett Benbow attended the official opening and turning of the sod for Stage 1 of Iberdrola’s Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park this morning, with official proceedings conducted by the State Premier Mr. Steven Marshall.

The Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park is a unique hybrid renewable energy development integrating wind and solar PV technology. With a capex of $500 million, the Renewable Energy Park project will provide around 320 MW of power on land in Port Augusta. Fifty wind turbines will take approximately 18 months to install with work on the 250,000 solar modules to start next year. On completion, 20 ongoing full-time jobs will be created.

Healthcare investment equates to new ambulance station for Port Augusta

A multi-million dollar investment in regional healthcare will see a new ambulance station delivered at Port Augusta.

The existing Port Augusta station is more than 40 years old, with limited facilities, garaging and parking.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said the $4.3 million build is about providing better healthcare, closer to home.

Water main upgrades flowing across the Far North

Water main upgrades are flowing across the Far North as part of SA Water’s $155 million investment in improving water services for outback communities.
Orroroo, Quorn and Stirling North have been earmarked for a total of around 2,300 metres of new water mains, which are set for installation during the next 12 months.

Hydrogen deal boosts steelworks
A deal between two energy companies will see green hydrogen transported from Adelaide to Whyalla, where it will be used by customers including the local steelworks.

BOC Australia will be taking the excess renewable hydrogen from the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG)’s Hydrogen Park located in the Tonsley Innovation District.

It will be transported via tube trailers to BOC’s Whyalla Argon Purification Unit, which will use the hydrogen as an energy source to make high purity argon for industrial processes such as steelmaking.
