I think the purpose of a rest day is that you are meant to feel refreshed the next day. It was quite the opposite, everyone felt tired and lethargic, maybe the fatigue is catching up with us. My legs felt like it was hard to get going and guess what? The head winds were back slightly crosswinds but either way, it made it a hard slog again.
Something you don’t think of with the wind is the noise. It drives you crazy. The wind seems to whistle through the slots in the helmet. It is like really bad tinnitus all day.
We rode really slow all day as we had plenty of time before nightfall. We arrived about 4.30 pm which was pretty late but gave me time to get to the servo and stock up on Mars bars.
It’s quite a nice place that we stayed at with a really nice restaurant and bar and very friendly staff.
We had an excellent smorgasbord dinner of which I continued eating like a pig and had about three servings, and then topped it off with ice cream and chocolate topping of course.
