Day Seven : Norseman to Balladonia 190km

Day Seven : Norseman to Balladonia 190km

We saw the first sign saying Adelaide 1,986. We thought “we must be getting close”.

I was feeling pretty good today and was cruising down a long downhill. I was sitting comfortably on 32km when Glen, who is the best of the best, the Top Gun, the cream on the cake, the elite cyclist, caught up to me and I tagged behind him for about 10km which was a real blast. Then the inevitable happened and we hit a hill, Glen stayed on 35km an hour and I dropped back to 22km an hour and he soon became a speck on the horizon.

It was a good day and although it was long, the ride wasn’t too difficult and the weather was spectacular at 27 degrees and no wind.

We had some long downhill stretches which was a pleasant change.

We are really out in the middle of nowhere now, it is barren and sparse but really quiet when riding.

We seem to have our groups sorted out now which suits our respective speed.

The cars are getting further and further apart and a lot of the cars toot and wave as they go past.

For some reason, I still had a lot of energy and we really pushed the last 20km sitting on about 30km on a gentle hill. I think there is a bit of adrenaline kicking in as you get closer to the end of the day.

Not really much else to report today.
